MULTIPLE AWARD-WINNING JANE DESIGNS
Well, when you are sitting in Starbucks with your new Jane pushchair /pram and all of the other mothers are starring with green eyes, the first thing you will need to tell them is that it is not actually pronounced Jane (as in the the girl's name) but rather Hannay, it's Spanish don't you know...
Jane Powertwin, Powertwin
The other critical factor is that the Jane Pushchairs /Prams have basically won every single award going and no other pushchair comes close...

Why should I buy a Jane pushchair?

The UK has more pushchair brands for sale than any other country and it is the single most painful purchase you will have to make before your child arrives. If your head doesn't hurt already, it will. But it doesn't have to, just forget the rest and buy a Jane pushchair. We ONLY sell one brand of pushchair (the Jane pushchair) for a reason. WHY?

  • Well firstly, Jane pushchairs are the UK's best selling brand of pushchairs
  • Jane pushchairs are consistently voted 'Number 1' and 'Best Buy' in all the magazines
  • No other pushchair brand has even come close the number of consumer awards Jane has won
  • BUT most importantly, for 6 months, I personally interviewed every mum and dad who came in our shop about the pushchair they were pushing. And I have to say the Jane pushchairs were the ONLY and I mean ONLY brand of pushchair the mums did not have a little moan about. The mums were very forward in giving me plenty of feedback about every other big pushchair brand, but Jane seemed to only ever get positive feedback. Hence we picked this brand to sell.

Why should I buy my pushchair from Baby Zoop?

Oh, that's us! Well, we hope you can see by the quality of our web site, that we actually care about giving you all the answers before you purchase your pushchair. We also care about supporting you, should you need it, after your purchase. But here are some additional notes that explain why you MUST buy from us:

  • We are the UKs only dedicated Jane stockist ~ we only sell Jane pushchairs and are unrivalled when it comes to our expert knowledge
  • Our prices are consistently monitored and are GENUINE bargains, BEWARE of pushchairs prices that are considerably lower, we know all the tricks other stockists use
  • We strongly believe in an open and honest policy towards sales, and you can ask us for our genuine opinion of colours, machines, travel systems and we will give our honest answer, unlike other retailers who are just after your sale
  • We are a small family run business who believe good old fashioned customer service is still incredibly important
  • No other Jane website is updated as frequently as ours ~ making ours the most up to date
  • We do not believe in hard-selling techniques
  • We believe no other website is as comprehensive or informative as Baby Zoop.
  • FEEL FREE to use our website to gather all of the Jane information you need, but if you then go and buy from someone else, because they are a few pounds cheaper, SHAME ON YOU! (at least send us the link of the pushchair that is cheaper so we can try and match the price or tell you how you are being scammed)

What are the main differences between the Slalom Pro and the Nomad pushchairs?

Both are super fab machines and most of the differences are pretty obvious but here goes...

The main differences are as follows:

  • Well shucks, as a technical expert I can confidently tell you the Nomad has four wheels and the Slalom Pro has 3. What do you mean you noticed, oh!!!! Some say 4 wheels are more stable than 3, mmmmnnn. Unless you are sprinting at full speed to catch that window seat in Starbucks, I don't think it makes a difference. 3 wheels still remain very trendy. The 4 wheeler Carreras sell well because they umbrella fold (down and in) for storage in tight spots. The Nomad DOES NOT umbrella fold so why buy one?
  • Because it is LIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT... The Nomad is actually a bit of a wonder. It is basically the same chassis as the Slalom (except it has four wheels), it has the same hood and egg shaped super strong aluminium frame. The size of seat and pushing position is the same, however the thing is 1.5kgs lighter, how?
  • Well if it's not down to fairies or the frame being full of helium, it may have something to do with the wheels, they are not air filled but rather rubberised, they are still a good size for travelling over bumps but they are thinner to look at head on. Also the whole front brake assembly is missing on the Nomad (there is no hand brake just a back wheel brake) and for real nerds the Slalom Pro has a metal footplate and more frame length than the Nomad but other than these things, I am sure there must be some fairy involvement somewhere
  • Both the Slalom Pro and the Nomad use the Pro-Fix system for attaching car seats
  • The Slalom Pro comes in more colours and is a little more expensive
  • On the Slalom Pro you can remove all of the wheels to fit the chassis into a small boot for example. On the Nomad only the rear wheels can be removed

What's the big deal with this Matrix car seat?

Basically, there is one GOLDEN RULE, when it comes to buying any car seat, and not just Jane branded car seats. They call it "THE TWO HOUR RULE".

"THE TWO HOUR RULE":
~ You cannot put your baby into any inclined car seat for more than 2 hours.

Inclined means when the baby sits at an angle, as in a seated position.

SCIENCE BIT: As a babies bones are softer than adult bones, putting your baby in a seated position for long periods of time, day after day, is actually dangerous for their spine and also the angle they sit at, puts pressure on their lungs. PLUS, how numb does your bum feel after a 2 hour movie? Right, you've got it. So the "TWO HOUR RULE" goes on to tell us that with any inclined car seat, after 2 hours, you have to stop what you were doing, take the child out of the car seat (waking the baby) then lay him/her on a flat surface or hold him/her against yourself for at least half an hour so they can have a little stretch.

PROBLEM: So we understand and accept the TWO HOUR RULE, that's just part of being a new parent, right? But the reality is, that if you have a car journey that is more than 2 hours or if you have a lot of shopping to do or if you are just plain busy (show me a new mum who isn't) this GOLDEN RULE can be a little disruptive for parents but more importantly it can be quite disruptive to a baby that needs a good block of sleep. If only there were an answer...

SOLUTION: There is, and it is called the MATRIX car seat. You see the Matrix IS an inclined car seat (angled like a seat) just like all the rest. And an inclined car seat is good for short car journeys or when your baby is awake or when you baby has just eaten and is travelling. BUT THEN, as if by magic, you pull a lever and the whole car seat bends in the middle to become perfectly flat. You can still fit the car seat securely into your car, or on the chassis, in this lying flat position and in the lying flat position the "TWO HOUR RULE" no longer applies. HOOORAAH, I hear you cry, Granny, who lives 3 hours away, will finally get to see the little one.

The Jane Matrix car seat is the ONLY car seat in the whole world (to my knowledge) that can perform this trick, much to the annoyance of every other car seat manufacturer, who cannot get around Jane's incredibly strong patents.

Will the Matrix car seat fit in my car?

This is really a 2 pronged answer (ouch!!).

Firstly, there is no list that exists that has every make of car and a YES/NO answer to the "Does it fit?" question. The reason being that, even some cars of the same make can have varying seat belt lengths (the Vauxhall Astra being the one that people talk about) and it is the seat belt length that determines whether the Matrix will fit or not. It is true to say that it does fit most cars BUT NOT ALL as it is slightly larger than the Rebel car seat, so you really need to test whether the Matrix will fit in your car before just buying it over the internet.

Also the second comment is that you really should have someone show you how the car seat fits properly. As with all car seats, they are a little fiddly at first and can need some practice, especially the Matrix as it has two different ways it can be fitted, laying flat or inclined. You really want to make sure you are happy the car seat fits correctly as your child's safety is at risk...

We are very happy to show you how the car seat fits, if you fancy a trip to see us.

PS The Rebel car seat is a more regularly sized car seat and generally fits most cars, however the same applies to "Knowing how to fit it correctly".

Is there anything I can do if the Matrix car seat DOES NOT fit my car?

Well, all is not lost if the Matrix does not fit your car, and it is true to say it really does not fit every car.

I have been told that it is not a complicated or particularly expensive thing to have longer seat belts fitted in your car, and in fact JOHNSTON PRAMS (UK distributor) have reference to this on their own website (albeit somewhat out of date). However, our Jane sales rep has many experiences of happy customers having longer seat belts fitted to get the benefits of the Matrix car seat.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend anyone who can do this, but I am sure a few calls to some local garages would get you the answer.

What are the overall dimensions of the Matrix and Rebel car seats?

The overall dimensions for the Matrix car seat are:  L ~ 82cms, W ~ 47cms, D ~ 23cms.
And for the Rebel car seat:  L ~ 75cms, W ~ 47cms, D ~ 30cms.

Are the buggies suitable from birth with no car seat?

WELL, this is a slightly subjective answer...

YES, the buggies are suitable from birth because they DO lay flat, which is your main criteria as a small baby obviously cannot support its own body weight or head. However, you need to remember that the buggies are really designed to hold children up to 3 or older and so to a young baby the buggy is huge and the straps cannot properly support their body or head.

The car seats however ARE specifically designed for newborns and very small babies, and therefore I would personally suggest, even if you don't have a car, to use a car seat attached to your chassis when your child is very small.

The baby will then be securely attached to the pushchair with the correctly sized straps and the car seat head hugger all reducing the shaking/wobbling movement on the babies body and head and therefore offering much more protection against even slight bumps and jolts on the pushchair.

You need to remember that even though the pushchairs offers a ride comfort unrivalled by other pushchairs, it will still bounce and wobble over uneven paths and pavements and you obviously want your baby safely and securely strapped into the pushchair.

Do the chairs lie flat on the Jane Powertwin?

The answer is the back seat lays flat, the front seat does not.

Therefore if you have a toddler and a newborn, the toddler goes in the front whilst the newborn can go either in their car seat on the back or in the buggy seat, lying flat.

HOWEVER, if you have twins, you can have both car seats attached OR if you are out and about for more than 2 hours, you have one baby in the Rebel car seat on the front, one laying flat on the back buggy seat and then swap the babies around after 2 hours, so they both can have a stretch.

The front seat is suitable from around 3 months, obviously depending on your own child's strength and development and does have 2 incline positions, so an older child can still have a nap quite comfortably.

Can I have the Matrix car seats on the Powertwin?

No, unfortunately you cannot, the Matrix car seat is a little bigger than the Rebel and therefore they obstruct each other.

Can I have a full refund if I am not 100% happy?

You can, of course, have a full refund, in line with our terms & conditions, which basically states you must return the item WITHIN 14 DAYS of receipt, including proof of purchase (keep your receipts). The pushchair must be unaltered, undamaged, unused with all of its original packaging and in a condition that is suitable for resale. You will incur the cost of returning it, we can advise on the most cost effective way to do this. Only under very special circumstances are you entitled to a full refund after these 14 days (our terms & conditions would still apply).

What sort of warranty do I get?

GOOD NEWS. Every pushchair comes with a 6 months mechanical repairs warranty (as issued by Jane not Baby Zoop). This entitles you to a full repair of any item that fails due to incorrect manufacture. It obviously does not cover user error, and DOES NOT ENTITLE YOU TO AN ENTIRELY NEW PUSHCHAIR AT ANY POINT. In my personal experience faults are actually very rare and quickly repaired, see fault section below for procedure.

REMEMBER your 6-month warranty starts ticking from the moment you receive your pushchair, so you MUST MUST MUST thoroughly check your machine over when you first receive it. Not after it has been sitting in the garage for 3 months and your wife has gone into labour. At this point it is as difficult for us to get things repaired to a very tight deadline as it is for your wife to keep her legs crossed knowing she can't leave the hospital without a car seat.

You MUST fully check your machine is in full working order as soon as you receive it. If you receive it in a faulty condition you must contact us with 5 working days to report this.

What happens if I develop a fault?

The returns procedure below is actually dictated by the distributor and, although it may seem harsh, it is designed to protect the Jane brand. Therefore our returns procedure is actually no different from any other Jane retailer I have come across, we just prefer to be open and honest from the start.

I have actually been surprised at how reliable the Jane pushchairs really are, after all, this is a machine that gets used for many hours a day on a daily basis. However, very occasionally faults can develop. The good news is that actually most faults that appear to be more stressful than a room full of monkeys, can actually be solved by yourself, with little inconvenience.

However, the worst case scenario is that you have a fault that requires your pushchair to go back to the distributor's service department in Ireland to be repaired. OK PUT THE CHOCOLATE DOWN AND CHILL OUT, honestly sending your machine back to Ireland is not as dramatic as it sounds, here is the procedure to follow for all faults.

FAULTS PROCEDURE:

  • If you are able, please send us an email describing the fault you are experiencing, attach any photos you feel will help. Having an email record helps us to prioritise you and speeds up the process
  • If you feel you need to GIVE US A PIECE OF YOUR MIND, we are, of course, happy to hear your feedback on the phone. HOWEVER, if you have just got your finger caught in the brake mechanism and scrapped your shins on the chassis, we ask you have a nice cup of tea and a biscuit before calling
  • Please remember that we do not manufacture these pushchairs and we obviously had no intention of selling you a machine that would develop a fault. We do care about making you happy and customers with faulty pushchairs are our number one priority ~ SHOUTING AT US AND MAKING UNREASONABLE DEMANDS JUST SLOWS THE PROCESS DOWN
  • With your description of the fault we can advise any action you might take yourself, we can contact the distributor's service department for advise, who are actually very helpful, they seem to have heard and seen it all before
  • If we are unable to resolve the problem to your satisfaction, the service department may request the machine to be sent back to Ireland (it is unlikely that you will develop a fault that they have not experienced and they are likely to give us strong direction immediately)

In the event that a severe fault has developed and the machine needs to be returned to Ireland, you must follow the procedure below. As it is the DISTRIBUTOR in Ireland who issues the 6-month warranty (on behalf of Jane), not Baby Zoop, they need to fully inspect the machine BEFORE they will confirm if the repair is under warranty and therefore FREE OF CHARGE. They are highly trained and can spot the difference between a manufacturers fault and user error. If the DISTRIBUTOR feels the machine has been damaged because it has been used incorrectly, you will incur all costs.

To mention USER ERROR when you have a machine that is broken may seem harsh, however the Jane Brand is something they are very protective of and it likely that their reputation is one of the reasons you originally decided to buy a Jane pushchair, so you can understand their point of view, they just want to look at the machine first.

BAD NEWS COMING... You will therefore have to cover the initial cost of returning your machine to Baby Zoop (this does not cost much and we can advise of a cheap courier), then once we receive it we will arrange for it to be couriered to Ireland, where it will be inspected. If it is agreed the problem was a manufacturers fault, the problem will be fixed and the initial courier charge, you played for, will be refunded. However, if it is deemed that you were carrying bricks down the road in it, you will have to pay for the repairs AND all couriers charges.

MORE BAD NEWS... Unfortunately there are no replacement pushchairs. When we asked customers what their buying criteria were for Jane pushchairs, most people cited prices as one of the most important factors. When we offered to charge a small additional fee for an extended warranty to cover the cost of e.g. a replacement pushchair should you develop a fault, it was a total failure with not one person willing to invest in this insurance. And so the very small margins we make from the sale of each purchase does not allow us the luxury of a replacement pushchair. The truth is, that it is likely that Baby Zoop's very low Jane prices are the main reason that YOU bought or will buy from US and not the next guy. I would love to think it was my stunning web design, but I think not...

"So I've got to pay and I don't get a replacement pushchair, what a pile of C***". Apologies again but we are no different from any other Jane stockist. We at Baby Zoop simply prefer to put all our cards on the table and be 100% honest BEFORE you purchase. I have heard many stories about what other retailers say to get your sale, we personally prefer the low stress, honest route...

BUT WAIT, remember a frown is just an upside down smile!!!!!

GOOD NEWS COMING... The good news is that a Jane pushchair that is returned to Ireland for repair is their number 1 priority and the repairs actually happen very fast, usually just over a week, there and back, phew!! AND when your machine is confirmed to be a manufacturers fault, the small courier charge you paid for, will be refunded. So if you have a genuine fault it can be repaired QUICKLY and at NO COST TO YOU. So, with a little patience, you'll whizzing back down to Starbucks even faster than before.

MORE GOOD NEWS... We have sold a lot of Jane pushchairs now and are one of the UK's premier stockists. Faults are actually very rare and are unlikely to affect you. When they do happen, they have always been sorted out very quickly and with little fuss. In my opinion you cannot buy a better quality, more reliable and hard wearing pushchair than a Jane pushchair.

RETURNING TO IRELAND PROCEDURE:

  • You must contact us via email or phone to confirm authorisation of the return of the faulty pushchair, any pushchair sent back to us without our authorisation, will not be prioritised
  • Your machine must be adequately packaged; this means it must first be wrapped in plastic in case of water damage occuring during transit (bin bags will do). Then it must be put into a box with adequate support or padding (you can tape 2 boxes together, it doesn't matter, it ain't gotta be pretty). Obviously if you have the original packaging, this is perfect. Any damage in transit, due to your inadequate packaging is YOUR fault and you will not be entitled to any compensation or repair caised by this
  • You MUST write a letter with your contact details, address and original Baby Zoop shopper ID number, expressing clearly and in detail if needed the nature of your fault ~ this will be forwarded to the service department and the clearer you are the quicker your repair will happen
  • You will then need to arrange collection and delivery to Baby Zoop (we will advise a low cost courier and the correct address to send to. NOTE: you will only have your courier charge refunded if you use OUR authorised couriers and the service specified by us. Any additional service YOU select, such as insurance, that has not been authorised in writing by us, will be payable by YOU)
  • We at Baby Zoop will then arrange the courier to send your pushchair to Ireland
  • The machine is inspected and repaired and returned to Baby Zoop (providing it is covered under the manufacturer's warranty).
  • Then we forward it back on to yourselves, with your courier refund
  • We all enjoy a Venti Caramel Machiatto to celebrate another job well done and everyone is happy!!

ADDITIONAL NOTE 1: If you DO damage your pushchair because of USER ERROR, you can still return the machine for full repair. Once the Service department inspects the machine, we will notify you of the cost of the repair for your approval

ADDITIONAL NOTE 2: Broken poppers can be fixed in our shop, very quickly ~ however, obviously the item will have to be returned to the shop, email for instructions.

Can you send these super pushchairs to Ireland, USA, Australia, Europe, Mars...?

Unfortunately, we no longer can ship to anywhere outside of the UK.

If you live in a UK addresses that usually incurs a delivery surcharge, we will notify you of the extra charge prior to charging your card.

I have seen one of your Jane pushchairs cheaper on another website?

Can we price match? We can certainly try, and it costs nothing to ask... Just send us the link to the website where they are advertising the deal and we will see what we can do (jane@babyzoop.co.uk). However, please understand that I know every angle other stockists use to sell their so-called bargains and if something is a lot cheaper than us this is bound to be ex-display, customer return, faulty repaired, part missing, discontinued colour or the infamous "Spanish Bargain" etc. etc...

What is the "Spanish Bargain"?

I have heard this so many times now, that I can almost tell someone is going to tell me about their "Spanish Bargain" by the way the phone rings.

So what is it...
...here's the story, your looking to buy a pushchair and the stress of having to decide which Jane pushchair to buy is hurting your head. You decide to take a little holiday to sunny Spain the motherland of Jane pushchairs. Whilst ambling from shop to tapas bar you bumble into a Spanish pushchair shoppee and "HOLY MOLY, STRIKE A LIGHT, ME OL CHINA", there's the pushchair you want and it's HALF the UK price. Hoooraaahhh!!

More like HO-NO, you see the Spanish machines are actually a different specification to the UK machines. The UK has the highest safety standards of any UK country and therefore any Jane pushchairs sold in the UK are made specifically for the UK. BUT possibly more annoying is that when you get home and open the box, many of the travel system do not come with hoods or shopping baskets or other essential bits and pieces.

Oh well, no problem, I'll just get some spares from a UK stockist sent over tomorrow. It is at this point I have to break the spell...

ALL SPARES BOUGHT IN THE UK ARE PHENOMINALLY EXPENSVE AND ARE NOT A PRIORITY FOR THE DISTRIBUTOR AND THEREFORE TAKE A VERY LONG TIME TO TURN UP (MONTHS IN SOME CASES). Also, Jane sells many more colours of pushchairs in Spain than in the UK and unfortunately the UK distributor will not even try to get you a spare in a colour that is not sold in the UK.

When I have to tell people the price of a replacement hood and basket, POOF, up in smoke goes their Spanish Bargain and WHOOSH PING, arrives the Spanish Con.

Just buy your machine in the UK, you will save a lot of time and money in the long run.

I am a celebrity, can I have a massive discount on a pushchair?

Well, this is a very common question, as we are the Jane stockist to the stars, DON'T ASK, all sales are confidential... You understand, if the gossip mags knew who was getting pregnant, phew!!

YES FAMOUS PERSON, you can have a massive discount if you are a celebrity. Discounts are of course rated on the "Alphabetical Celebrity Scale" depending on whether you are an A-lister or a celebrity big brother contestant.

HOWEVER, don't ask unless you are willing to work a little for it and by that I mean you may have to come and see us in our shop and have your photo taken for our portfolio. But honestly if you are pregnant you should be coming to our shop anyway as we have only the loveliest things for your baby.
